Most people think that you have to eat at home in order to eat healthy. This is not true. Most restaurants are now providing low fat and low carb menus.
The only thing you have to do is to call around and find the restaurant that provides the menu that you want. When you get to the restaurant, there are ways to enjoy your meals without feeling any guilt.
Order carefully
You must make your orders carefully. This is the secret to success; else you will find yourself staring at the plate of bad choices you made. You then start regretting after you have emptied the plates.
Take extras home
It is advisable to ask for a take-out container to take away half of the food if you find out that it is too much to be eaten there and then. This demands a lot of self control. That should also inform how you place your orders the next time.
Extras like butter, gravy, sauces, sour creams and salad dressing should be served on the side. You limit the extra calories that these give by slightly dipping a fork in them before putting them on your food.
Substitute
You may have to substitute some of the things. For example you can substitute green vegetables for potatoes; you can also ask for low fat versions of what you want to eat.
If there are no substitutes you may ask for them to be kept out. You may have to pay for it anyway but that will be better than paying with your waistline.
It is possible for someone to want what you don’t want. You can ask the waiter to have it served on a different plate.
Even at fast food joints
Even at fast food restaurants where there is a great challenge to weight loss, you can make healthy choices.
Avoid fatty food
You can order a salad, a roast beef sandwich or a grilled chicken. If you are in casual dining scenarios, you can choose the foods according to how they are cooked. Avoid foods that are buttered or fried. Opt for baked, steamed, roasted or boiled foods.
